Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata, often referred to as Calcutta Medical College, was established 1835 as Medical College, Bengal in Kolkata, India as the first college of European medicine in Asia.
The college now imparts the degrees Bachelors of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) after completion of 5 and half years of medical training. Also specialization degrees like MS / MD as well as post doctoral MCh / DM degreesare offered. Besides there are nursing and several para-medical courses. Doctors Academy is an International Consortium of Doctors, Dentists and Scientists that undertakes a diverse range of educational activities globally. The aim of the Academy is to disseminate information, and exchange medical knowledge, technical and technological expertise between the professionals working in varied health care settings in resource-rich and resource-poor nations. It is envisaged that bridging the knowledge, technical and skills gap between professionals from diverse backgrounds will lead to improvements in global health and, ultimately, benefit patient care.
